Lieutenant Colonel Lionel Henry HICKSON, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment.


Hart’s Annual Army List 1908 – 8th September 1897, 2nd Lieutenant; October 1899, Lieutenant; 21st January 1904, Captain; 1907, 2nd (Central Africa) Battalion, Kings African Rifles.

Captain Hickson served in the campaign on the North West Frontier of India under Sir William Lockhart in 1897-98 with the Buner Field Force with the 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment during the operations in Buner including the engagement at Tanga Pass (Medal with Clasp). Served in South Africa war in  1899-1900 with the 2nd Battalion, The Buffs, and was present at Klip Drift and the operations at Paardeberg, including the engagement at Kitchener's Kopje - severely wounded (mentioned in despatches).
