Enlisted Camberwell, London, age 28 years & 3 months, height 5ft 9½ inches, weight 154lbs, anchor left forearm, heart right forearm. Resided 7 Formerly brewers labourer.

13th November 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th July 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 7th October 1916, wounded; 13th October 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th November 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th December 1916, Rochester, overstaying his leave from midnight until 7.00am 12th, severe reprimand, forfeits 2 days pay; 17th December 1916, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th December 1916, posted 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 30th May 1917, appointed Acting Corporal; 24th June 1917, wounded; 16th July 1917, to Duty; 15th December 1917, confirmed Corporal & appointed paid Lance Sergeant; 20th January 1918, promoted Sergeant; 28th January 1918, granted 14 days leave to UK; 13th April 1918, on strength, GHQ Lewis Gun School; 16th October 1918, posted missing, presumed killed in action.

16th June 1919, awarded a pension of 32/1 a week to widow & three? children.

29th June 1919, date when Separation Allowance of 45/6 a week will cease.

5th October 1920, letter from War Office - In reply to your letter of the 2nd Inst. I beg to inform you that the Director of Graves Registration is unable to receive any further applications for photographs of graves of a deceased soldier. To visit your husbands grave you should obtain a passport from the Passport Office London and proceed at your own expense.

Buried at Romeries Communal Cemetery Extension, II.D.11., Nord, France.
