Born Walworth, SE, son of James & Selina Powell of Woolwich, SE.

14th October 1885, St John the Evangelist, Walworth, Southwark, baptism of John William Powell son of James & Selina Powell, 40 Barbour Street.

Enlisted 21st June 1906, New Cross, SE.  Resided Woolwich, Kent. Formerly carpet cleaner.

15th August 1914, posted BEF.

Miss Elizabeth Emily Paine, fiancé & sole legatee.

Commemorated at Le Touret Memorial, Panel 30 and 31, France.
