The following is in continuation of Sir Douglas Haig's Despatch of 9th April, submitting names deserving of special mention, published in the London Gazette of Tuesday. 15th May, 1917: 

Royal West Kent Regiment. -  Hulford, No. G/8576 Lance -Corporal. (acting Serjeant) H.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to award the  Military Medal for bravery in the Field to the under mentioned Ladies, Non-Commissioned Officers and Men: 

Serjeant H HULFORD, G/8576, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. (Shortlands).

London Gazette 15th November 1918.

His Majesty The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the under mentioned Warrant Officers, Non-commissioned Officers, and Men, for gallantry and distinguished service in the Field:

Serjeant H HULFORD, G/8576, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment. (Shortlands).

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In order to obtain information regarding enemy dispositions he, on his own initiative, crawled forward to an old hut in advance of the outpost line, and, though bombed and fired at by a machine gun, remained there throughout the hours of daylight and obtained most valuable information regarding the enemy's method of holding posts and his movements generally behind his line
