Born Seven Kings, Essex, son of James Henry & Caroline Frances Green, of 74, Milton Court Road, New Cross, London.

Enlisted  Deptford, Kent, age 24 years & 300 days, height 5ft 5¾ inches, weight 126lbs, fresh complexion, grey eyes, light brown hair, two moles right shoulder.  Resided New Cross, Kent. Formerly sawyer.

Home, 7th September 1914 to 25th July 1915; BEF, 26th July 1915 to 13th July 1916.

7th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th November 1914, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 22nd January 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 28th June 1915, promoted Corporal; 22nd July 1915, appointed Lance Sergeant; 26th July 1915, embarked; 30th September 1915, promoted Sergeant; 21st December 1915, wounded, gas, at duty; 13th July 1916 posted missing.

Commemorated at  Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Military Medal for bravery in the Field to the under mentioned Non-Commissioned Officers and Men, since deceased, who has been killed in action or died of  wounds or disease subsequent to the date of the award of the Military Medal to them by the Commander-in-Chief in the Field:
