Serjeant George Edward BROWN, L/9501, "A" Company, 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds, as a Prisoner of War, 5th September 1914, age 23.

30th December 1890, born Wareham, Dorset, son of George Edmund Brown (Lance Corporal, with Royal Engineers, serving with BEF), and Eliza Mary Brown, of Coopers Corner, Ide Hill, Sevenoaks, Kent.

Educated at Ide Hill, Sevenoaks.

Enlisted 1910, Maidstone, Kent.  Resided Sevenoaks, Kent.


1911 Census - Quebee Barracks, Bordon - Private George Brown, age 20, single, 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, born Wareham.


15th August 1914, posted BEF, served through the retreat from Mons.

Commemorated at La Ferte-Sous-Jouarre Memorial, Seine-et-Marne, France.
