Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 27, height 5ft 6½ inches, weight 154lbs.  Resided 12 Brewsdon? Road, Brixton, SW. Formerly hotel superintendent.

9th June 1915, enlisted & posted 2/5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, Service No.3613; 20th September 1915, appointed Acting unpaid Lance Corporal; 4th December 1915, appointed paid Lance Corporal; 26th February 1916, promoted Corporal; 14th July 1916, appointed paid Lance Sergeant; 21st October 1916, promoted Sergeant; 14th July 1917 to 19th July 1917, Military Hospital, Canterbury;  Folkestone, embarked; Boulogne, disembarked; 16th September 1917, Etaples 40 Infantry Base Depot, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th September 1917, joined Battalion, In the Field.

21st? December 1919, Statement of Relatives - Father, separated for years and ????? family; Mother, Sarah All Hurst, 106, Western Road, Lewes, Sussex; Brothers - Private John Henry Hurst, age 35, still serving in the Army; Sisters - Lilian May Mockford, age 26, 106, Western Road, Lewes, Sussex.

Buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery, V. K. 7., Belgium.
