His Majesty The KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the under mentioned Warrant Officers, Non-commissioned Officers, and Men, for gallantry and distinguished service in the Field:—

G/1201 L./Cpl. A. Coleman, Royal West Kent Regiment.

For conspicuous gallantry in action. In the attack he threw bombs with great determination and.accuracy, causing many casualties to the enemy. Later, he carried out a most valuable reconnaissance.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to award the Military Medal for bravery in the field to the under mentioned Non-Commissioned Officers and men: 

1201 Serjeant  A Coleman, Royal West Kent Regiment.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of a Bar to the Distinguished Conduct Medal to the under mentioned Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers:—

1201 Serjeant  A Coleman, D.C.M., M.M., Royal West Kent Regiment.  (Ipswich).

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When all his officers became casualties he took command of the  company, and, under heavy artillery machine and snipers' fire, went from group to group encouraging and directing the men. When no further advance was possible he established a line of defensive posts close to the enemy, which he maintained until relieved. He showed courage and ability of a very high order throughout the operations.
