Born Beckenham, Kent, enlisted 7th September 1914, Bromley, Kent, age 20, height 5ft 8 inches, weight 136lbs, resided Snagg Lane Farm, Cudham, near Sevenoaks, Kent / 268 High Street, Rochester, Kent. Formerly time? keeper.

Son of Thomas E  & Ellen Attwood, 268 High Street, Rochester, Kent.

Home, 7th September 1914 to 25th July 1915; BEF, 26th July 1915 to 11th January 1918; Home, 12th January 1918 to 24th January1919.

9th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion; 31st December 1914, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 4th July 1916, promoted Corporal; 1st October 1916, promoted Sergeant; 8th January 1918, wounded, gun shot wound, left hand, 2 fingers amputated, right arm, amputated, 7.5 inch stump ;  17th January 1918, posted Depot.

24th January1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued.
