Born 17th January 1890, Tottenham, Middlesex, youngest son of Henry & Mary Ann Mardell, (daughter of William Samuel Ginn), of 65, Birkbeck Road, Tottenham, London.

Educated Lancastrian School, Tottenham, Middlesex.

1911 Census - 36 Sutherland road, Park Lane, Tottenham, Middlesex - Mary Ann Mardell, head, age 60, widow, married 36 years, 7 children, all still alive, born 4 Percival Cottages, Tottenham, Middlesex; Mary Ann Mardell, daughter, age 35, single, blouse machinist, worker, born 5 Percival Cottages, Tottenham, Middlesex; Maud Sarah Mardell, daughter, age, 24, single, blouse machinist, worker, born Tottenham, Middlesex; William T Mardell, son, age 21, single, grocers assistant, worker, born Tottenham, Middlesex.

Enlisted  November 1915, London.

Served with the Expeditionary Force in France & Flanders from November 1916.

Commemorated at Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Panel 45 and 47, Belgium.
