Born Christ Church, Blackburn, Lancashire, enlisted 5th September 1914, Blackburn, Lancashire, age 22, height 5ft 3 inches, weight 135lbs, resided 54 Mosley Street, Blackburn, Lancashire / 8 Tutbury ? Street, Every? Street, Manchester, Lancashire. Formerly motor driver.

Son of Emma Harwood, 54 Mosley Street, Blackburn, Lancashire.

Home, 5th September 1914 to 9th December 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force, 10th December 1915 to 7th April 1916; India, 8th April 1916 to 25th May 1916; Home, 26th May 1916 to 9th April 1918.

5th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th December 1915, posted Indian Expeditionary Force; 23rd March 1916, wounded, gun shot wounds, dangerous;

9th April 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued 

Pension, 27/6 a week for 4 weeks from 10th April 1918, then 19/3 a week for 22 weeks.
