Enlisted Lewisham, SE, age 29 years & 300 days, height 5ft 7¼ inches, weight 120lbs, tattoo cross left forearm. Resided 29 Butterfield, Lee, SE / 78 Summerfield Street, Lee, Kent. Formerly tinplate worker.

26th August 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th January 1916, forfeits 10 days pay for absence & awarded 10 days Field Punishment No.2.; 10th May 1916, Southampton, embarked; 11th May 1916, Havre, disembarked; 14th May 1916, Etaples, 41 Infantry Base Depot, Prisoner from England; 20th May 1916, joined battalion at the Front; 28th May 1916, General Court Martial, In the Field, When under orders for Active Service, deserting HM Service. Not guilty of Desertion but guilty of absence without leave. Sentence 1 years imprisonment with hard labour. 30th May 1916, confirmed GOC 122nd Infantry Brigade. 30th May 1916, suspended by GOC 122nd Infantry Brigade. Commuted to 60 days Field Punishment No.1. Authority GOC 41st Division 15th June 1916. In confinement awaiting trial 25 days; 19th June 1916, 138 Field Ambulance JCT left index finger; 25th June 1916, 41 DRS, to Duty; 7th October 1916, posted missing.

17th June 1917, date when Separation Allowance of 126 a week and Allotment of Pay of 3/6 a week will cease.

18th June 1917, pension of 13/9 a week awarded to wife.

26th May 1920, Statement of Relatives - Widow, Emma Humphries, 10 Bradshaw Street, Old Kent Road, London; Children, none: Brothers, 3, ages not known, addresses not known; Sisters, 5, ages not known, addresses not known; 16 nephews, 11 nieces, age not known, addresses not known.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France.
