Born Ullcombe, Kent, son of George Crump & Caroline Elizabeth  Hayward, 7 James Street, Maidstone, Kent.

19th January 1896, Ulcombe, Kent, baptism of William George Lester Hayward, son of   George Crump & Caroline Elizabeth  Hayward.

Enlisted  Tonbridge, Kent, age 19, height 5ft 6 inches, shallow complexion, grey eyes, fair hair. Formerly motor body maker.

Home, 8th September 1914 to 25th July 1915; BEF, 26th July 1915 to 13th July 1916.

8th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th July 1915, posted BEF; 13th July 1916, posted missing.

29th June 1919, Statement of Relatives - Widow, none;  Children, none; Father, George C Hayward, 7 James Street, Maidstone, Kent; Mother, none; Brothers - Stanley Hayward, age 23, attach RGA; Sisters - Agnes Hayward, age 32, Park House, ?????; Violet Hayward, age 26, Sutton Valence.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France.

In pursuance of " The Regimental Debts Act, 1893," notice is hereby given that there is available for distribution amongst the Next-of-Kin or others entitled the sum of money set opposite to the name of each of the deceased Soldiers named in the lists which are published with this notice in the London Gazette and the " Army List," and are also to be seen at the Regimental Depots throughout the United Kingdom.

Applications from persons supposing themselves entitled as Next-of-Kin should be addressed by letter to " The Secretary, War Office, Imperial Institute, South Kensington, London, S.W. 7," and marked outside " Effects."
