Home 14th November 1916 to 11th September 1917; BEF 12th September 1917 to 26th October 1917.

Enlisted Taunton, Devon, age 40, height 5ft 7¾ inches, weight 129lbs.  Resided 4 Manse Road, Stoke Newington, N. Formerly book sellers assistant.

14th November 1916, enlisted; 16th November 1916, posted 4/1st Cambridgeshire Regiment, Service No. 9397; 11th March 1917, transferred to 2/5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th September 1917, embarked Folkestone; 12th September 1917, disembarked Boulogne; 12th September 1917, 40 Infantry Base Depot, Etaples; 12th September 1917, posted 3/4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th September 1917, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th September 1917, joined Battalion; 26th October 1917, posted missing; 26th October 1917, dead when admitted to the Feldaz, regarded as died whilst a Prisoner of War, at Lanwe, Belgium

Brother of Mrs. Flora Ellen Chant, of 115 Auckland Road, Ilford, Essex.  Born at Stoke Newington, London.

Commemorated at Harlebeke New British Cemetery, II.D.4., Harelbeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

NOTE: Regimental History & Soldiers died in the Great War show his service No. as 242405, CWGC show it as 242425.
