Private William BURDEN, G/5163,  6th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  killed in action, Flanders France,  3rd July 1916, age 43.

Born Otham, Maidstone, Kent, son of Edward and Alice (deceased 20th October 1917), Burden, of Syringa Villa, Summerfield, Woodnesborough, Eastry, Kent. In January 1922, Mr E Burden at 3 Host Cottage, Barnswell Staple, near Canterbury, Kent.

Enlisted Hastings, Sussex, age 29 years & 3 months, height 5ft 8¾ inches, weight 159lbs. large scar over right lower ribs, accident 4 years ago, 2 ribs broken & removed.  Resided Winsborough, Sandwich, Kent. Formerly miner.

Commemorated at  Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, Somme, France and on Woodnesborough Memorial, Kent.
