9th December 1915, enlisted; 10th December 1915, to Army Reserve; 31st May 1916, mobilized; 1st June 1916, posted 27th Royal Fusiliers, Service No.2996; 1st September 1916, transferred to 103rd Training Reserve; 3rd October 1916, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment; 6th October 1916, embarked; 18th October 1916, joined 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd May 1915, posted missing; Official List from Geneva, Prisoner of War.
24th February 1918, date to which Separation Allowance of 30/6 a week and Allotment of pay of 3/6 a week will cease.
25th February 1918, pension of 31/3 a week awarded to widow & five children.
*24th June 1920, War Office Memo - ..... "It will be observed that Capel is stated to have died early in the morning (1.00am) of 21st July 1917, this no doubt accounts for Company Sergeant Major Allen's erroneous report that the death occurred on 20th July 1917."
*19th July 1920, War Office Letter to Mrs E Capel, 1a Exeter Terrace, Headstone Drive, Wealdstone, Middlesex - "I am directed by The Secretary of the War Office, to forward the enclosed certificate of your husband death. On the official notification previously forwarded, his death was erroneously stated to have occurred on the 20th of July 1917. It has now been ascertained that he died on the 21st of July 1917. I enclose herewith an amended notification."
Buried at Niederzwehren Cemetery, IX. D. 16., Kassel, Hessen, Germany.
