Born Bromley, Kent, son of Arthur and Harriett Mary Bryant, of 20, Prospect Place, Mason Hill, Bromley, Kent. Brothers, Arthur Bryant; Frederick Bryant, 8833, 2nd Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment. Sister, not known.

13th March 1914, Woolwich, enlisted as Gunner, Royal Regiment of Artillery, Royal Garrison Artillery, Service No.40595. Discharged 3rd April 1914, Great Yarmouth as not likely to become an efficient soldier, hernia. At time of discharge, age 19 years 146 days, height 5ft 8¾ inches, fresh complexion, blue eyes, brown hair, trade carman, intended place of residence, 97 Victoria Road, Bromley Kent. Descriptive marks, two dots back left forearm, indistinct tattooing back of right forearm, mole above left collarbone & front right thigh.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 20 years, 1 month, height 5ft 10½ inches, weight 154lbs, left abdomen, scar from hernia operation. Resided 97 Victoria Road, Bromley Kent. Formerly carman.

28th November 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th December 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 7th April 1915 posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th April 1915, 5th Infantry Base Depot; 12th April 1915, joined Battalion; 18th April 1915, posted missing.
