13th October 1916, Called up for Service; 17th October 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th August 1917, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 27th August 1917, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th October 1917, wounded, gun shot wound, face; 18th October 1917, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment.

21st February 1918, discharged as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension 27/6 a week for 4 weeks then 16/6 a week to be reviewed in 48 weeks.
