Born at West Malling, Kent, son of Albert & Eliza Mary Burrluck, (remarried Drury), Buildings Farm, Hampton Court, Hadlow, Kent.

Enlisted  Maidstone, Kent, age 19 years & 11 months, height 5ft 5⅛ inches, weight 128lbs.  Resided Ellen Cottages, New Hythe, Nr Maidstone, Kent. Formerly papermaker.

Home, 26th May 1915 to 2nd May 1916; BEF, 3rd  May 1916 to 13th October 1916; Home, 14th October 1916 to 15th February 1918.

26th May 1915, enlisted & posted Depot /10th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd May 1916, posted BEF & embarked; 6th October 1916, Delville Wood, wounded, operated on at Casualty Clearing Station; 14th October 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th October 1916 to 23rd January 1917, Northamptonshire War Hospital, Duston, gun shot wound leg; 23rd January 1917 to 10th April 1917, Milton Park Aux Hospital, Peterborough, gun shot wound, leg; 10th April 1917, Northamptonshire War Hospital, Duston; 25th January 1918, Medical Board, Duston, discharge as permanently unfit; 15th February 1918, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to wounds. Silver War Badge issued

Pension of 27/6 a week for 4 weeks, then 22/- a week to be reviewed in 26 weeks. Gun shot wound leg, fractured tibia. 80% disability. From 21st August 1918, 13/9 a week for 52 weeks.

Buried at  Larkfield (Holy Trinity) Churchyard, North-East of Church and commemorated at East Malling Green, Kent.


The above casualty does not appear in the Roll of Honour in the book by C T Atkinson.
