Born, Maidstone, Kent, son of Mrs. Elizabeth (Bertha) Horton, of "Cherry Tree," Tonbridge Road, Maidstone.

Previously served Royal Berkshire Regiment, Time Expired, July? 1909?

Enlisted Maidstone, Kent, age 35, height 5ft 4½ inches, 125lbs, brown eyes, brown hair. Formerly goods porter.

Home 17th August 1914 to 31st December 1915; BEF 1st January 1916 to 2nd August 1918.

17th August 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st August 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1914 posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th July 1915, Colchester Military, partial upper & lower artificial dentures; 1st January 1916, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th July 1916, awarded 10 days Field Punishment No.2.; 22nd September 1916, Trial in the Field, using insubordinate language to a superior officer, found guilty, sentenced to 28 days; 24th October 1917 to 4th November 1917, awarded 14 days Field Punishment No.1. for drunkenness.
