Private John William Daniel BLAIKIE,  L/10161, 1st Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, France and Flanders, 28th October 1914, age 20.

5th September 1894, born Aberdeen, Scotland, son of John Daniel Blaikie, of  2 Shore Brae, Aberdeen / 9, St. Nicholas Lane, Aberdeen, Scotland.

Served with 6th Battalion, Royal Scots No.1404, 6th March 1912 to 5th July 1913. Enlisted Edinburgh, age 17, height 5ft 3 inches, unemployed tailor. Resided 1 Ponton Street. 5th July 1913 - Recommendation to join Royal West Kent Regiment - a smart intelligent lad of respectable appearance. He knows the master tailor of the Regiment and is eager to serve in the Corps with him, a desirable recruit in every way.

Enlisted Aberdeen, Scotland, into Royal West Kent Regiment, age 18, height 5ft 3⅝ inches, weight 113lbs, grey eyes, hair dark red, tattoo right forearm, scar on middle joint left forefinger, slight hammer toe right foot. Formerly tailor.

Home 5th July 1913 to 13th August 1914; BEF 14th August 1914 to 28th October 1914.

5th July 1913, enlisted, Royal West Kent Regiment; 17th July 1913, awarded 3rd Class Certificate of Education; 7th November 1913, posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 252th July 1914 to 9th July 1914, Dubln Hospital, gastritis; 28th October 1914, reported missing; 28th October 1914, body found and buried.

Commemorated at Le Touret Memorial, Panel 30 and 31, Pas de Calais, France & on Aberdeen Roll of Honour.
