Private John MCLEOD, G/11438, 6th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, Flanders France, 25th August 1917.

Born Edinburgh, Scotland, son of Daniel McLeod, 1 Summerbank, Edinburgh, Scotland.

10th March 1913, Camberwell, SE. married Annie Louisa Thorpe, spinster, 158 St Georges Road, Peckham. 

Enlisted Camberwell, SE, age 29 years & 330 days, height 5ft 3¾ inches, weight 133lbs.  Resided 132 Gloucester Road, Peckham SE / 110 Glengate Road, Peckham / 36 Gloucester Road, Peckham. Formerly shirt cutter.

Home, 29th November 1915 to 2nd July 1916;  BEF, 3rd July 1916 to 25th August 1917.

29th November 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th February 1916, posted 12th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th April 1916, Northampton, absent from 7.00am Parade, 3 days confined to Barracks; 3rd July 1916, posted BEF; 4th July 1916, embarked; 5th July 1916, Etaples, 40 Infantry Base Depot; 5th July 1916, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 19th September 1916, rejoined Battalion, In the Field; 27th November 1916, In the Field, dirty rifle whilst on active service, 3 days confined to Barracks.

7th April 1918, date when Separation Allowance of 9/- a week and Allotment of Pay of 3/6 a week payable to wife, will cease.

Buried at Feuchy Chapel British Cemetery, I. G. 13., Wancourt, France.
