Private James HUNT, TF/2020, 1st/5th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of duodenal ulcer, Muree Station Hospital, India, 3rd September 1916.   

Born Brighton, Sussex.

Previously served 6 years 3rd Battalion, East Surrey Regiment.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 30, height 5ft 4 inches. Resided No.8 Gravel Pits, Masons Hill, Bromley, Kent. Formerly labourer G.P.O. 

Home 11th August 1914 to 28th October 1914; India 29th October 1914 to 3rd September 1916.

11th August 1914, enlisted & posted 5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment.

6th April 1921, War Office memo to Infantry Records - Will you please note that any articles of personal property now in your possession or subsequently received by you belonging to the late No.2020 Private James Hunt, 5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, should be despatched to:- Mrs Morgan, 8 Gravel Pit, Bromley, Kent, on the understanding that she will hand them over to any person having a prior claim should such person appear and claim them.

19th April 1921, receipt signed by Mrs Morgan, 8 Gravel Pit, Bromley, Kent, for photograph of grave.

War Office memo to Infantry Records - "Records to retain medals pending application which is to be forwarded to War Office. Next of Kin not traced"

Commemorated at  Karachi 1914-1914 War Memorial, Pakistan.

SOLDIERS' BALANCES UNDISPOSED OF.

In pursuance of "The Regimental Debts Act, 1893," notice is hereby given that there is available for distribution amongst the Next of Kin or others entitled the sum of money set opposite to the name of each of the deceased Soldiers named in the lists which are published with this notice in the London Gazette and the "Army List," and are also to be seen at the Regimental Depots throughout the United Kingdom.

Applications from persons supposing themselves entitled as Next of Kin should be addressed by letter to "The Secretary, War Office, Imperial Institute, South Kensington, London, S. W. 7," and marked outside "Effects."
