Commemorated at  Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France.

1917 December, Wandsworth Registration District,  Alice Maud Hissey, married Ernest A Lamb.

1st Battalion War Diary.

No.168. Pte. John Hissey - At Hill 60, on 17th April 1915, he took command of a small party (no NCO being available), and took up an important position, not previously occupied, by which the flank of the line was protected.

The following despatch has been received by the Secretary of State for War from the Field-Marshal Commanding-in-Chief the British Army in France: 

General Headquarters, 30th November, 1915.

In accordance with the last paragraph of my Despatch of the 15th October, 1915, I have the honour to bring to notice the names of those whom I recommend for gallant and distinguished service in the field.

London Gazette 19th February 1917.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to approve of the award of the Military Medal for bravery in the Field to the under mentioned Non-commissioned Officers and. Men, since deceased, who have been killed in action or died of wounds or disease subsequent to the date of the award of the Military Medal to them by the Commander-in-Chief in the Field.
