Private James Heman MORTON, G/18847, 7th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of pneumonia, Prisoner of War Hospital, Stendal, Germany, 23rd June 1918.

Born Holloway, Middlesex, son of James R & Annie Morton.

Enlisted Willesden, Middlesex, age 19 years & 5 months, height 5ft 5 inches, fresh complexion, brown eyes, light brown hair.  Resided 8 The Terrace, High Road, Kilburn, NW6. Formerly boot repairer.

Home 7th June 1915 to 1th October 1916; BEF 2nd October 1916 to 23rd June 1918.

7th June 1915, enlisted & posted 3/9th Middlesex Regiment, Service No.3541; 9th July 1915, posted 2/9th Middlesex Regiment; 4th February 1916, posted 63rd Provisional Battalion; 30th June 1916, posted 3/9th Middlesex Regiment; 2nd October 1916, posted 1/7th Middlesex Regiment; 2nd October 1916, Folkestone, embarked; 2nd October 1916, Boulogne, disembarked;

14th October 1916, transferred to 4th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 14th October 1916, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st March 1918, posted missing.

28th June 1918, Translation of Certificate of Death No.370 Stendal, 24th June 1918 - The local Prisoners of War Hospital has notified in writing that James Morton, English Prisoner of War , bootmaker, age 21 years, 6 months, Protestant Religion, resident at Kilburn, born at Kilburn, single, parents of the deceased, unknown, died at Prisoners of War Hospital, Stendal on the 23rd June 1918, at 10 am.
