Enlisted Grantham, Lincolnshire, age 25 years & 350 days, height 5ft 6¾ inches, weight 130lbs.  Resided 6 Bridge Street, Grantham, Lincolnshire. Formerly groom (machinist crossed out).

Home 10th December 1915 to 11th October 1917; BEF 12th October 1917 to 23rd August 1918.

10th December 1915, enlisted; 11th December 1915, to Army Reserve; 9th April 1917, mobilized; 12th April 1917, posted 3rd (Reserve) Cavalry Regiment, Service No.33688, No.3. Depot; 1st September 1917, transferred to Royal Fusiliers, for posting to 5th Reserve Battalion, London Regiment; Service No.G/59203; 12th October 1917, posted BEF & 2nd Battalion Royal Fusiliers; 12th October 1917, embarked; 13th October 1917, Etaples, 39 Infantry Base Depot; 14th October 1917, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment, & posted 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th October 1917, joined Battalion, In the Field; 7th November 1917, wounded, at Duty; 20th November 1917, being deficient of grocery ration, deprived of 4 days pay; 12th December 1917, with Battalion to Italy; 1st April 1918, returned to France with Battalion;

9th March 1919, date when Separation Allowance of 19/6 a week payable to wife will cease, pension awarded.

1919 March, Grantham Registration District, Ethel Ward, married James R Tutty.

27th April 1920, Statement of Relatives, (completed by Mrs E Tutty) - Widow, Mrs E Tutty, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Cape Bretton, Canada; Children, Ida May Ward, born 7th December 1911, with me same address; Father, William Ward, 47 North Gate, Sleaford, Lincolnshire; Mother, Elizabeth Ward, 47 North Gate,  Sleaford, Lincolnshire; Brother - Fred Ward, age 48, Game Keeper, for Duke of Bedford; Sisters - Herema Ward, age 36, Marquis Granby Hotel, North Gate, Sleaford, Lincolnshire.
