Private Henry Roper (Harry) HARRIS, L/8121, 1st   Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died at 1st London General Hospital, Camberwell, of wounds received in action, Flanders France, 7th October 1914.  

Born Barnsbury, Middlesex, son of Edmund William (Edward) & Margaret Jane Harris.

31st August 1905, enlisted London, Middlesex. Formerly beer bottler.


1911 Census - Military India - Henry Roper Harris, Private, age 23, single, 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, Soldier, born Barnsbury, Middlesex.


15th August 1914, posted BEF.

Brothers - James William Harris, John A Harris, Charles Stanley Harris. Sister - Emily M Harris, Sister in Law -Amy Eliza Harris.

Buried at Brompton Cemetery, N. 172616.

In pursuance of "The Regimental Debts Act, 1893," notice is hereby given that there is available for distribution amongst the Next of Kin or others entitled the sum of money set opposite to the name of each of the deceased Soldiers named in the lists which are published with this notice in the London Gazette and the "Army List." and are also to be seen at the Regimental Depots throughout the United Kingdom. 

Applications from persons supposing themselves entitled as Next of Kin should be addressed by letter to "The Secretary, War Office, Park Buildings, St. James's Park, London, S.W.," and marked outside "Effects."
