Born Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.

5th August 1911, Register Office Croydon, married Margaret Mary Betts, spinster.

Children - Fred Betts, born 19th November 1911, Croydon, Penge; Thomas? Charles? Henry? Freeman,  born 14th May 1914, Croydon, Penge, died 15th March1915, Croydon, bronchial pnuemonia.

Home 12th September 1914 to 24th May 1915; BEF 25th May 1914 to 3rd September 1916.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 33 years & 5 months, height 5ft 8 inches, weight 143lbs, Tattoo, clasped hands back of right wrist, three intertwined fishes fron tof left forearm.  Resided Penge, SE. Formerly gas & hot water fitter.

12th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th October 1914, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st April 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 25th May 1915, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th May 1915, 5 Infantry Base Depot; 12th July 1915, 5 Infantry Base Depot, drunk in Camp about 1045pm, fined 10/- & 2 days Field Punishment No.2.; 24th July 1915, joined Battalion; 16th August 1915, 15 Field Ambulance, diarrhoea; 17th August 1915, 5 Divisional Rest Camp; 24th August 1915, rejoined Battalion, "D" Company; 3rd September 1916, posted missing.

30th April 1917, pension of 18/9 a week awarded to widow & one child.

Widow - Mrs M Freeman, 11 Watlington Grove, Lower Sydenham. 1919 December Quarter, Lewisham, married Ernest A Dighton

Commemorated at  Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, Somme, France.
