Private Henry ENGLAND, L/9631, 2nd  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of dysentery in British General Hospital, Kut al Amarah, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, 21st January 1916. 

Born St Peters, St Albans, Hertfordshire, son of Henry & Hannah England, 16 Keyfield? West, St Albans, Hertfordshire / 22 Pageant Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Served with 4th Battalion, Special Reserve, Bedford Regiment, Service No.6384. 12th November 1910 to 28th June 1911. Age 18 years & 3 months, height 5ft 4 inches, weight 122lbs, blue eyes, light brown hair, mole right collar bone, mole back of neck.

Enlisted 28th June 1911, Mill Hill, Middlesex, age 18 years & 10 months, height 5ft 4 inches, 121lbs, fresh complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair, scar centre of right shin, dental treatment required. Formerly casual labourer.

Home, 28th June 1911 to 18th December 1913; India, 19th December 1913 to 31st January 1915; Indian Expeditionary Force "D", 1st February 1915 to 21st January 1916.

28th June 1911, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st September 1911, awarded 2nd Class Certificate of Education; 23rd June 1913, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal, 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th September 1913, Dublin, neglect of Duty, when in charge of a group on strike duty at Inchicore, deprived of Lance Stripe; 19th December 1913, posted India & 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st February 1914, Multan, not removing the magazine from his rifle by retreat, 3 days confined to Barracks; 30th January 1915, Bombay, embarked; 6th February 1915, Basrah, disembarked; 9th September to 18th October 1915, Basra Hospital, diarrhoea.

24th June 1919, Statement of Relatives - Mother, Hannah England, 22 Pageant Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire; Sister - Rose Suitter?, age 33,  22 Pageant Road, St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Buried at Kut War Cemetery, E. 9., Iraq.
