5th January 1913, St Katherines, Rotherhithe, Henry Derry, age 28, bachelor,  lapidary, 86 Eugene Road, father Edward Derry, pattern maker, married Dorothy Lilian Strong, age 21, spinster, 86 Eugene Road, father George Thomas Strong, fitter.

Formerly served with Duke of Cornwallis Light Infantry or West Surrey.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 25, height 5ft 6½ inches, weight 119lbs, loss of terminal phalanx 2nd finger right hand, fresh complexion, light brown hair, brown eyes, scar right buttock & outer side of right knee.  Resided 32 Clyde Street, Deptford, SE / 16 Oak Wood Grove, Annerley, SE / 20 Clifton Hill, New Cross, SE. Formerly lapidary ( artisan who forms stone, minerals, or gemstones into decorative items)

5th September 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 11th December 1915, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th November 1915, 5 Casualty Clearing Station, influenza; 28th November 1915, 8 General Hospital, Rouen, influenza; 11th December 1915, transferred to England, Hospital Ship; 13th December 1915 to 23rd December 1915, Duchess of Connaught's Red Cross Hospital, Taplow, Buckinghamshire, influenza; 3rd January 1916, posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th January 1916, posted BEF & 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st February 1916, joined Battalion; 16th March 1916, wounded slight, at Duty; 3rd July 1916, posted wounded & missing.

4th April 1917, pension of 10/- a week awarded to widow, Mrs Dorothy Lilian Winkel.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, Somme, France.
