Private George Thomas CARPENTER, L/7233, 1st  Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died of wounds received in action, Flanders France, 27th October 1914.

6th October 1881, Born Dalston, E, son of Sergeant Major Richard Carpenter by his wife Margaret, daughter of William Annastacia.

Educated Dalston & Army School, Malta.

8th April 1912, St Paul's Haggerston, married Sage (daughter of Edward & Elizabeth Richards), 12 Eleanor Road, Hackney.

26th March 1903, enlisted Stratford, Essex; served in South Africa and afterwards for 8 years as a postman in the Eastern District, London; called up from the Reserve on mobilization on 4th August 1914; went to France with the Expeditionary Force.

Buried at  Bethune Town Cemetery, I.B.4., Pas de Calais, France.
