Born Erith, Kent, son of Rose and Charles Brown, of 14, Acre Cottages, Slades Green, Kent.

25th December 1914, married Leavina M Curling, of 8, Acre Cottages, Slades Green, Kent, after being granted 48 hours special leave.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, age 29 years & 8 months, height 5ft 3½ inches, weight 120lbs, tattoo marks cross hearts "B???" left wrist, crossed hands right wrist. Resided 14 Acre Cottages, Slades Green, Erith Kent. Formerly labourer.

Home 1st December 1914 to 6th April 1915; BEF 7th April 1915 to 16th October 1915; Home 17th October 1915 to 14th April 1916; BEF 15th April 1916 to 3rd July 1916.

1st December 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 9th December 1914, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 7th April 1915, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 17th October 1915 to 11th November 1915, King George Hospital, London, wounded, gun shot wound left thigh, right face; 21st November 1915, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 1st December 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 5th December 1915, Fort Darland, absent from Guard mounting, reprimanded; 20th February 1916, Fort Darland, overstaying his pass from Tattoo until Tattoo 21st, deprived of 5 days pay, forfeits 2 days pay; 15th April 1916, posted BEF & 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 3rd July 1916, posted missing.

12th March 1917, pension awarded of 10/- per week to widow.

Buried at Ovillers Military Cemetery, IX.D.8., Somme, France.
