Previously served with Kings Royal Rifles, 12 years, time expired 1904.

31st August 1914, Woolwich, enlisted into 10th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifles, R1542, age 41 years 235 days, height 5ft 5½ inches, weight 138lbs, grey eyes, brown hair, tattoos both forearms. Resided 19 Patrol Place, Catford, SE. Formerly painter.

31st August 1914, posted Winchester Depot, Kings Royal Rifles, Rifleman; 6th September 1914, posted 7th Battalion, Kings Royal Rifles; 16th September 1914, promoted Corporal; 12th October 1914, discharged medically unfit, injury from an old South Africa wound.

Enlisted Lewisham, SE, age 42, tattoo marks both forearms. Resided 19 Patrol Place, Catford, SE / 19 Woodland Street, Hither Green Lane. Formerly paperhanger.

12th July 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment;

14th July 1916, War Office memo - "I am directed to inform you that as the death of No.9614 Private G A Brady, Royal West Kent Regiment, was due to his own fault, his widow and children are not illegible for pension from Army Funds. The case, however, has been referred to the War Pension etc Statutory Committee, 22 Abingdon Street, London, SW, who are empowered by the Naval & Military War Pensions Act 1915, to deal with cases where no pension is payable out of public funds."

18th December 1916 letter - "I am directed by the War Pension etc Statutory Committee to inform you that an application for assistance has been received in the case of Mrs Brady widow of the late No.9614 Pre Geo Alfred Brady, R.W.Kent Regiment who is said to have died from the effects of a blow while under the influence of drink. There appears however to be no evidence that the man drank to excess before he enlisted and letters from his late employers show him to be of good general character and temperate habits. The Statutory Committee will be glad therefore, before considering the application if the War Office will furnish them with full particulars as to the cause of the man's death and as to his character while in the Army with particular reference to any charged of drunkeness or drinking recorded against him, and the existence of facilities for obtaining drink in excessive quantities."
