Commemorated on Tonbridge War Memorial - Tonbridge War Memorial - The original World War I memorial at the Junction of Pembury Road and Quarry Hill. The names were later re-inscribed in the new Memorial Garden in Bradford Street. 

From Tonbridge History - Fred Porter was born in Tonbridge in 1884, son of Matthew and Jane. In 1911 recorded as living at 162 Shipbourne Road and working as a jobbing gardener (brother in law to Robert Hamilton who also fell in the war.) He enlisted in January 1915 joining the 8th Battalion Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment as Private GS/5360.  He was killed in action on 26th September 1915 and is remembered on the Loos memorial.
