8th January 1916, letter from Acting Adjutant, 29th (Reserve) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers, Headquarters, George Street, Oxford to Mr F Myers, 9 Worsley Terrace, Wigan - "In reply to your letter of 6th instant, you should proceed to the nearest recruiting office and enlist for 29th (Reserve) Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. A frree Railway Warrant will then be handed to you by The Recruiting Officer. Any other recruit of a fairly good class will now be accepted in the Battalion."

11th January 1916, Wigan - Notification of Despatch of a Recruit - The Recruit named in the margin attested for Royal Fusiliers, will be sent as under; pleasae send an NCO to meet him at Oxford and convey him according to your instructions. Departure, Wigan 9.15am 14th January 1916, Arriving, Oxford unknown 14th January 1916, by Rail.
