Private Frank HENRY, TF/2092, 1st/5th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died, of heatstroke at Jhansi, India, 21st July 1915.

7th June 1867, born Dartford, Kent, son of William & Elizabeth Henry, (bootmaker).

19th October 1885, age 18, height 5ft 5 inches, enlisted Maidstone, Kent, born Dartford, labourer.

19th October 1892, 97th Foot Soldiers, Shorncliffe, Kent, transferred to Army Reserve.

Previously served 1st & 2nd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment, time expired.

1911 Census - 6 Mount Pleasant Road, Dartford, Kent - Elizabeth Henry, head, age 80, widow, 10 children, 5 still alive, born Blackfriars, London; Ada Henry, daughter, age 36, single, aper porter, paper mill, born Dartford, Kent; Frank Henry, son, age 42, single, fitters labourer, paper mill, born Dartford, Kent.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent, from Dartford National Reserve, age 47 years & 8 months, height 5ft 6 inches, weight 136lbs, tattoo left forearm "A Cox". Resided 9 Priory Hill, Dartford, Kent. Formerly engineers labourer.

17th October 1914, married at Dartford, Kent, Frances Annie, (daughter of Harry Longhurst), 9 Priory Hill, Dartford, Kent.

Allotment of Pay 6d a week.

Home 5th August 1914 to 28th October 1914; India, 29th October 1914 to 21st July 1915.

5th August 1914, enlisted & posted 1/5th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 29th October 1914, posted India & embarked on H T Corsican; 3rd December 1914, disembarked Jhansi, India; 23rd June 1915 Jhansi Military Hospital, heat stroke, temperature 110 degrees & unconscious for 12 hours, considerable weakness after. ????? never clear also had multiple fibrous tumours, possibly tuber??? under the skin & in every organ of the body. Cardiac failure & death.

24th January 1916, pension awarded to widow.

Buried in Jhansi Cantonment Cemetery, Plot H, Grave 107.

Commemorated at Madras 1914-1918 War Memorial, Face 20., Chennai, India.
