Private Frederick Alfred BUTTON, 240416, 1st/5th Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, died, Mesopotamia Expeditionary Force, 5th September 1917, age 25.

Born Hastings, Sussex, son of Mr. A. H. Button, of The Prince Frederick, Sundridge Park, Bromley, Kent.

Enlisted Bromley, Kent.  Resided Bromley, Kent.

Buried at Amara War Cemetery, XIV. B. 1.. Iraq.  Commemorated on Bromley War Memorial.

NOTE from CWGC -  In 1933, all of the headstones were removed from this cemetery when it was discovered that salts in the soil were causing them to deteriorate. Instead a screen wall was erected with the names of those buried in the cemetery engraved upon it. 

NOTE: Regimental History & Soldiers Died in the Great War show service No as 240416, CWGC web site show 240415.
