Children - Charles Thomas John Smith, born 1911 September, Lewisham Registration District; Cecilia Walford, born 22nd January 1913, Lewisham; Nellie Walford, born 3rd September1914, Lewisham; Joseph Walford, born 31st March 1916, Lewisham, (22nd October 1916, St Mary, Lewisham, baptised son of Charles, (Soldier) & Nellie Walford, 75  Hither Green Lane).

Enlisted Lewisham, SE, age 27 years & 8 months, height 5ft 3¾ inches, tattoo mark chest "I love Nell"..  Resided 75  Hither Green Lane, Lewisham, SE. Formerly general labourer.

22nd July 1915, enlisted & posted 11th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 15th September 1916, posted missing.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, Somme, France.
