Born Enfield, Middlesex, enlisted 2nd March 1917, Central London Recruiting Depot, Whitehall, age 18, height 5ft 9 inches, weight 142lbs, resided 42 Falcon Road, Ponders End, Middlesex. Formerly machinist / screw turner.

Married 16th July 1918. Child, Frederick Hoy, born 17th March 1919.

2nd March 1917, enlisted; 3rd March 1917, to Army Reserve; 29th November 1917, mobilized; 1st December 1917, posted 25th Recruit Distribution Battalion, Training Reserve; 7th March 1918, Rochester, Kent transferred to 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 23rd May 1918, forfeits 6 days pay for absence.

29th April 1919, Rugeley Camp, Medical Report - defective hearing from birth, left ear, total deafness, right ear can hear loud voice, 9ft off. Disability 40%.

20th May 1919 to 21st May 1919, Military Hospital, Ripon, scabies.

27th May 1919, discharged  as "no longer physically fit for War Service" due to sickness. Silver War Badge issued 

10th July 1919, Pension, 13/8 a week from 28th May 1919 for 30 weeks, final, including child's allowance.

27th July 1920, The Pensions Appeal Tribunal disallowed this case.
