Enlisted Maidstone, Kent, age 27 years & 192 days, height 5ft 9 inches, weight 149lbs, mole small of back. Formerly general labourer.
Home 6th August 1914 to 12th May 1915; BEF 13th May 1915 to 20th July 1916.
6th August 1914, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 8th August 1914, posted 6th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 26th October 1914, injury to left leg, left hand & back of head, caused by a motor lorry not on duty & not ???? ????; 12th November 1914, Pte Hale has improved greatly under treatment. The fingers & thumb of left hand were stiff & powerless to begin with, but he has now got a good grip & the range of movements of the fingers has improved greatly. The leg was very ordenatous with sensitive ?????? & ?????, but this has now disappeared. The leg has a lot of hard ????? round the calf which is now gradually disappearing. He can now get about a little on his feet now but I think it will be some time yet before he is fit for any severe strain on it & he is likely to feel the after effects for some considerable period; 31st March 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th May 1915, posted BEF & 1st Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 13th May 1915, 5 Infantry Base Depot; 15th May 1915, joined Battalion, "B" Company; 17th July 1915, 10 days Field Punishment No.2.
