24th January 1916, enlisted & transferred to Army Reserve; 20th November 1916, mobilized & posted Depot, Border Regiment, Service No. 32437; 23rd November 1916, posted 3rd Battalion, Border Regiment; 26th April 1917, posted BEF & 6th Battalion Border Regiment; 12th May 1917, posted 8th Battalion, Border Regiment; 29th May 1917, Classified P.B. (Permanent Base); 3rd August 1917, transferred to Labour Corps, Service No.399159, 792 A.E. (Area Employment) Company; 1st February 1918, transferred to Royal West Kent Regiment, Service No. 20658; 21st March 1918, posted missing.

2nd September 1917, Attwell, whilst on active service, having a dirty rifle on rifle instruction, 5 days confined to Camp;

15th November 1920, Statement of Relatives - Father, Edward R Burrell, Mains Cottage, Crosby Garrett; Mother, Mary E Burrell, Mains Cottage, Crosby Garrett; Brothers - Frederick S Burrell, age 20, with the Forces; Richard H Burrell, age 18, Mains Cottage, Crosby Garrett; Walter R Burrell, age 12, Mains Cottage, Crosby Garrett; Sister - Iris? M J Huddart?, age 25, Step End Farm, Great Asby.

Commemorated at  Pozieres Memorial, Panel 58 & 59, Somme, France.
