29th October 1915, enlisted & posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th November 1915, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 21st March 1916, appointed unpaid Lance Corporal; 13th May 1916, appointed Lance Corporal; 17th May 1916, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 4th January 1917,  deprived of lance stripe;21st March 1918, reported missing. Prisoner of War.
