Enlisted, Dover, Kent, age 16 years, height 5ft 2 inches, weight 85½ lbs, fresh complexion, blue eyes, dark brown hair, mole right shoulder, mole left scapula. Resided 1 Albert Road, Dover, Kent. Son of an Officer of the ASC who died on active service. (Patrick John Gleeson born December 1861, Ireland, Lieutenant Quartermaster, died 14th August 1900, Naauw Poort, South Africa Field Force, Boer War. Served in the ranks for 19 years before being promoted to Lieutenant. He had served in the Zulu Campaign.)
