Born Bermondsey, Surrey, son of Frederick Exall, of London.

Brother of William James Exall, of 2, Grove Cottages, Falconer Road, Bushey, Watford, Hertfordshire.

Enlisted  London, Middlesex, age 19, height 5ft 5½ inches, weight 117½lbs.  Resided Walworth, SE. Formerly labourer.

Brought before invaliding board, remanded to Duty; 19th January 1905, Hong Kong, using improper language to an NCO, 10 days confined to Barracks; 12th January 1907, neglect of duty when on sentry, 10 days confined to Barracks, 2 extra guards; 1st February 1905, Hong Kong, talking in the ranks when on manouveres, 5 days confined to Barracks; 18th May 1906, Hong Kong, hesitating to obey an order, 7 days confined to Barracks; 14th July 1906, Hong Kong, absent from Medical Inspection Parade, 5 days confined to Barracks; 12th January 1907, neglect of duty when on sentry duty, 10 days confined to Barracks, 2 extra guards; 11th April 1911, re-engaged Section D"; 15th August 1914, posted BEF; 25th December 1914, to England on Hospital Ship "Carisbrooke Castle".
