1st July 1915, enlisted & posted 11th (Lewisham) Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 16th August 1915, forfeits 8 days pay for "absence"; 1st September 1915, awarded 14 days Field Punishment No.2. by Commanding Officer; 14th January 1916, in Guard Room; 21st January 1916, tried and convicted by Court Martial, for when on active service, striking his superior officer being on the execution of his office, sentenced to 112 days detention; 29th March 1916, released from detention, 43 days remission; 27th April 1916, forfeits 6 days pay for "absence" awarded 10 days Field Punishment No.2; 17th September 1916, wounded gun shot wound, left thigh; 18th September 1916, posted Depot, Royal West Kent Regiment; 24th October 1916, posted 3rd Battalion; 17th November 1916, forfeits 6 days pay and a further 12 days pay; 2nd January 1917, forfeits 17 days pay and awarded 7 pays Field Punishment No.2; 3rd March 1917, forfeits 12 days pay; 7th April 1917, forfeits 12 days pay; 20th October to 27th November 1917, Bath War Hospital, shell wound left hand; 27th November 1917 to 6th December 1917, furlough from Bath War Hospital; 18th December 1917 to 25th February 1918, Hospital, tip off 2nd finger; 26th February 1918, posted 3rd Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 12th March 1918, posted BEF; 1st June 1918, joined 24th Division Reinforcement Camp; 14th June 1918, joined 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 10th August 1918, forfeits 1 days pay; 5th November 1918, joined 24th Division Reinforcement Camp; 9th November 1918, joined 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 28th December 1918, for duty with RASC Canteens; 4th April 1919, died at 5 Stationary Hospital, Dieppe, fracture of base of skull(accident). Fell from a train between Waincourt and Fressenville on the night of 4th April 1919 whilst proceeding on leave, circumstances unknown.
13th October 1919, pension awarded of 26/8 a week for widow and 17/6 a week for two children.
Buried at Janval Cemetery, II. L. 5., Dieppe, France.
