Enlisted  Chatham, Kent, age 21, height 5ft 8 inches, 126lbs.  Resided 43 Napier Road, Gillingham, Kent. Formerly skilled labourer.

Home 15th November 1915 to 17th May 1916; BEF 18th May 1916 to 9th June 1917.

15th November 1915, enlisted; 16th November 1915, to Army Reserve; 24th January 1916, mobilized & posted 9th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 18th May 1916, posted BEF & 8th Battalion, Royal West Kent Regiment; 19th May 1916, embarked; 2nd June 1916, proceeded to join Battalion.

6th August 1917, date to which Separation Allowance of 5/3 a week and Allotment of Pay of 3/6 a week will be paid.

13th September 1917, Personal effects returned: 2 x identity discs, one letter, five photos, pocket book, cigarette case, fountain pen.

26th August 1919, Statement of Relatives - Mother, Elizabeth Bennett, 43, Napier Road., Gillingham, Kent; Brothers - Private Harold William Bennett, age 25, Summerdown Camp, Eastbourne, Sussex; Sisters - Christina Florence Bennett, age 32, 31 Beresford Road, Gillingham, Kent; Lily Kate Bennett, age 35, 58 Cavendish Avenue, Gillingham, Kent.

Buried at  Mendinghem Military Cemetery, II.D.14.,Poperinge, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
