Major Charles George PACK-BERESFORD, 1st Battalion, Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, at Wasimes, near Mons, France, 10th September 1914, age 45.
Born 21st November 1869, London, third Son of Denis William Pack-Beresford, J.P., D.L., of Fenagh House, of Bagnalstown, County, Carlow, by his wife Annette Caroline (only daughter of Robert Clayton Browne of Brownes Hill, County, Carlow).
4th January 1870, Saint Mary, Marylebone, London, baptism of Charles George Pack-Beresford son of Denis William & Annette Caroline Pack-Beresford.
Educated Wellington College and Sandhurst.
20th November 1889, Gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, Queens Own; 1st February 1893, became Lieutenant; 18th December 1899, became Captain; 1897 - 1900 being Adjutant; 1897-8, served with Malkand & Buner Field Force, on the North-West Frontier (India), including the action at Landakai, the operations in Mamund Country & Buner, also during the attack & capture of the Tanga Pass, (medal with Clasps); 1899-1901, in the South African War, including the operations in the Orange Free State, September 1900 - July 1901, and in the Cape Colony in August 1901, September to December 1901, (Despatches London Gazette, 10th September 1901), (Queens Medal with four clasps); 1903-06 an Instructor at the RMC Sandhurst;11th September 1907 to 22nd December 1909, Instructor with a Company of Gentlemen Cadets at RMC Sandhurst ;21st March 1908, Major; 1911-14 Major in Command of 3rd Battalion Regimental Depot, Maidstone, Kent;

27th November 1917, D R Pack-Beresford Esq, Fenagh House, of Bagnalstown, County, Carlow applied for his brothers medals.
Commemorated at La-Ferte-sous-Jouarre Memorial, France.
NOTE: Officers Died in the Great War shows date of death as 10th September 1914; CWGC web site shows it as 24th August 1914.
