Lieutenant Walter Ralph HACKETT, 7th Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment, killed in action, France, 3rd October 1916.

Born Brooklawn, Dublin, only son of Colonel  and Mrs. Hackett, Brooklawn, Chapelizod, Co. Dublin.

19th July 1907, married Eleanor Marianne Katherine McCausland, (the eldest daughter of Hon. Mrs. McCausland and the late Mr. C. T. McCausland, D.L., Drenagh, Co. Londonderry), of Glassdrummond, Annalong, Co. Down.

Resided Canning Cottage, Rostrevor, County Down, Ireland.

July 1915, posted BEF.

On the outbreak of war he volunteered and was given a Lieutenant's commission in the Royal West Kent Regiment. Shortly after joining he was appointed regimental transport officer, and very soon transport officer to the brigade, which position he held till last March 1916.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Face 11 C, France.
