2nd Lieutenant (temporary Lieutenant), R S Cobb, to be Lieutenant, with precedence as from 1st June 1916.  - 9th May 1917.

His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to confer the Military Cross on the under mentioned Officers and Warrant Officers in recognition of their gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field :

Lieutenant Robert Stanley Cobb, Royal West Kent Regiment.

For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. By his able handling of a few men and some Lewis guns, he enabled the troops on his right to get within assaulting distance of the enemy's position. He also showed exceptional courage and initiative in filling up gaps as they occurred, finally taking command of his battalion when all the senior officers were out of action.
