Lieutenant Richard Elkanah Hownam HEALEY, Adjutant, 1st  Battalion,  Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment,  killed in action, death presumed on or after, 22nd July 1916, age 31.

Son of Randolph Eddowes and Alice Minnie Healey, of Hownam Lodge, Odiham, Hampshire.

April 1885, St Thomas, Lower Crumpsall, Lancashire, baptism of Richard Elkanah Hownam Healey, son of Randolph Eddowes, (Clerk in High Orders), and Alice Minnie Healey, of St Thomas Rectory.


1911 Census - 11 Kensington Hall Gardens, West Kensington, London, W - Jessie J A L Miller, head, age 57, single, artist & writer for fashion magazines, journalism, worker, born Tynemouth, Northumberland; Richard E H Healey, boarder, age 26, single, daily newspaper reporter, journalism, worker, born Gateacre, Lancashire; Mary Langton, servant, age 73, single, domestic servant, born Hayes, Middlesex.


11th April 1915, posted BEF.

22nd/23rd July 1916, killed at midnight, during the action at High Wood while conveying an order for part of the force to withdraw under heavy fire.

22nd October 1917, Probate -  Richard Elkanah Hownam Healey, of 36 Colehill Gardens, Fulham Palace Road, Middlesex. Lieutenant West Kent Regiment, died 22nd July 1916, in France. Administration London 22nd October to the Reverend Randolph Eddowes Healey, clerk. Effects £208 12s 11d.

Commemorated at Thiepval Memorial, Pier & Face 11C, France & Selwyn College, Cambridge. & King Henry VIII School, Coventry.
